  • Agents of Value – Hire an individual who will work for you 40 hours per week. Programmers, graphic designers, virtual assistants, link managers, etc. from the Philippines. I have successfully used this group, but their contracts are very biased toward protecting themselves and not us.You must be very “hands on” and not only provide them with work every day, but also keep track of whether or not they are actually working. Some supervisors think nothing of an employee coming on 15-30 minutes late everyday, are unaware of what an agent is suppose to be doing, and do little toward noise control. Equipment often fails. Agents are seated at long tables, 2 feet apart from each other. Imagine working with 20+ year olds on both sides of you, literally 2 feet away on either side. Their “experienced” agents have often turned out to be fresh out of college, with no prior employers. On the other hand, I have found a gem in their midst and deeply appreciate what he has done for me.
  • Craig’s List, Manilla – just like any other Craig’s list, except there is no $25 charge for posting a job! Screen your workers carefully, though.
  • Elance – Bid for work to be completed by people from around the world, including US, India and Russia. I have used this group quite successfully. Their contracts are protective of all parties and they hold our payments in an “escrow” account until we approve the release of funds, after job satisfaction.
  • Fiverr.com – A website where people offer to give you very circumscribed services for only $5. It now is my favorite labor pool outside of my geographic area.
  • Freelance — A website much like elance, but with less traffic. I have been very satisfied with the website owners as well as the freelancers I’ve found here.
  • GetaFeelancer I do not know them well enough to know the details of their services. They seem to be modeled much like Elance and they have an “escrow” system as well.
  • Odesk is a “remote workdesk solution” company that allows you to select remote freelancers AND tools to monitor work on your project. Their “work diary” feature allows you to see desktop, keystrokes, snapshots of your workers at their desk at 10 minute intervals, among other work monitoring tools. You get a timelog for hours worked by your team and you get billed automatically every week, so you know exactly how much each staff person is costing you. You apparently “only pay for work completed.” Of course, you pay for these added services, but given your circumstance, the assurance you have that your work is actually getting done without the need for constant supervision, correcting, training.
  • WorkaholicsForHire is a successful company with a great reputation. I have not tried them yet, but they are on my list!
